Generator rows ask for what the item is, a quantity and what one unit costs. For a custom dress, give the fabric a row where the quantity is the yardage and the rate is what one yard costs, put thread, zips and other notions on one row, and enter your sewing time as hours at your hourly rate. Name the garment and the client in the descriptions so the invoice stays tied to the order.
The preview charges one tax percentage on the whole subtotal. Before you use a single rate, look up your state's rules on fabric and labor.
Worked example, with sample figures: a custom dress uses 4 yards of silk at $28.00, 4 × $28.00 = $112.00, notions for 1 × $18.00 = $18.00, and 14 hours of sewing at $45.00, 14 × $45.00 = $630.00. The subtotal is $112.00 + $18.00 + $630.00 = $760.00 before tax.
