Invoicing for your graphic designer business

The preview builds an invoice from rows, and each row records what was delivered, how much of it, and its price. On a design project, list each deliverable from the brief as 1 at its agreed fee, such as the logo or a business card layout, and name the client's brand in the description. Work beyond the brief goes on a separate row as hours times your hourly rate.

Only one tax percentage can be entered, and it is charged on the subtotal of every row. Confirm how your state treats design work before filling in the field.

Worked example, with sample figures: a logo project bills the logo design at 1 × $600.00 = $600.00, a business card layout at 1 × $150.00 = $150.00 and 3 hours beyond the brief at $65.00, 3 × $65.00 = $195.00. The subtotal is $600.00 + $150.00 + $195.00 = $945.00; leaving tax at 0% keeps the total at $945.00.
