- What the November 2019 update added
- Where to find this today
This is a product announcement from November 6, 2019. It describes what Billed added at that time, not what the product offers today. For the current feature list, see the section on where to find these features today, below.
In November 2019 we announced five new features in Billed, together with a set of smaller changes. This post is the record of that update.
What the November 2019 update added
1. Recurring invoices
The update added recurring invoice profiles. In the 2019 version, you opened Recurring Profile in the sidebar, clicked New Recurring Profile, chose a schedule and filled in the invoice fields. Billed then generated the invoices on that schedule, so regular clients didn't need a new invoice made by hand each week or month.

2. Expense tracking
Expenses were added from Expenses in the sidebar with Add Expense. Each expense took a category, a vendor, a date, an amount and a description, with an optional receipt attached. Importing expenses from a CSV file followed after user feedback.

3. User management
Teammates could be added to a Billed account from Settings, then Manage Users, then Add New, so they could work on invoices too. We described user management as an early-stage feature at the time.

4. Project management
Projects came in two types, fixed rate and hourly rate. Each project held its own tasks and logged time. Invoices were created per project for fixed-rate work and per task for hourly work.

5. Time tracking
Time was tracked from Time Tracking in the sidebar by adding a task, and the tracked time could then be turned into an invoice.

Smaller changes in the same release
The update also changed how currencies and taxes were handled, and added import and export for customers, products, services and expenses.
The screenshots in this post were added after the original announcement, so they may not match the 2019 screens or the app as it is now.
