Currency Converter

1. Converted amount = amount × exchange rate, where the rate is how many units of the "To" currency you get for 1 unit of the "From" currency.
2. The result is rounded to 2 decimal places or to whole units, whichever you choose. Half a unit or more rounds up.
3. The rate the other way round = 1 ÷ exchange rate, shown to 6 decimal places, so you can check the rate against a quote given the other way round.

The converter doesn't fetch or store exchange rates, and the currency codes only label the amounts. Use the rate you'll actually be paid at, for example the rate your bank or payment provider shows for the transfer, or the rate agreed in your contract.

Worked example

Say your contract sets a rate of 1 USD = 0.9 EUR. This is an example, not a current rate. Converting 250.00 USD gives 250.00 × 0.9 = 225.00 EUR. The same rate the other way round is 1 ÷ 0.9 = 1.111111 USD per EUR, to 6 decimal places.

What you can enter

• An amount up to 1,000,000,000,000, with up to 2 decimal places.
• An exchange rate above 0 and up to 1,000,000, with up to 8 decimal places. When the From and To currencies are the same, the rate is 1.
• No negative numbers.
