A preview row takes three entries: the work or part, the quantity and the rate. On a plumbing job, put the call-out fee first at quantity 1. Labor comes next as hours at your hourly rate, followed by each part you fitted with its quantity and unit price. Name the fixture in the description, such as "Upstairs toilet, fill valve", so the customer knows which repair a part belongs to.
Tax is one percentage on the whole subtotal, labor and parts together. Find out what your state requires for repair labor and parts before you put a rate in the field.
Worked example (sample figures): a toilet repair has a call-out fee of 1 × $85.00 = $85.00, labor of 3 × $120.00 = $360.00 for three hours, one fill valve at 1 × $28.00 = $28.00 and 2 supply lines at 2 × $16.00 = $32.00. The subtotal is $85.00 + $360.00 + $28.00 + $32.00 = $505.00 before tax, which matches the preview's opening total.
