Retainers and subscriptions are not “edge cases” anymore—they are how modern service businesses stabilize cash. Billed's recurring invoices page (checked October 31, 2026) says: "Choose whether to send invoices daily, weekly, monthly or yearly."

Tip for 2026: separate fixed retainers from variable overages and tie true-ups to timesheets and time tracking where hourly work is involved.

Theme 3: Visibility Into Costs

Revenue tells a story; profit tells the truth. Billed's expense and receipt tracking page (checked October 31, 2026) says: "Billed's expense report can group your expenses by category."

Theme 4: Work Anywhere—Without Apologizing for Quality

Field services, creative pros, and consultants do not live at a desk. Billed's invoice software page (checked October 31, 2026) says: "Billed works in a web browser on any device, and Billed's mobile app page describes apps for iOS and Android."
